- The Studio
"I love traveling. When I'm shooting a destination wedding, everything is new and exciting, which I think gives the photos a different energy. That has as much to do with my approach as it does with the guests, because they're on holiday somewhere beautiful and enjoying themselves so much."
Hailing from Australia, Kirra has quickly become known as one of the leading photographic talents in the world. Rangefinder Magazine recently listed her among the 30 rising stars of wedding photography -- an accolade earned through her sharp eye for detail and photojournalistic approach. "I love the freedom of shooting in a candid style. Joining the studio is not so much about learning the Christian Oth style as it is about Christian identifying that you have talent and that you fit in with the work of the studio. He nurtures that talent."
Kirra has received a number of recognitions for her work, including the AIPP Travel Scholarship, first prize at the Ilford National Photographic Competition, and an award from the International Aperture Awards in Photojournalism. She splits her time between Australia and New York City, which gives her a fresh outlook on the American urban wedding. "I love shooting New York weddings because the colors are beautiful, the fashion is fabulous, and the weddings are so well styled. It's all about telling stories."
