“My way of doing things is a little different - it’s relaxed and laid back, but never short of direction. More than anything, I want to capture the essence of who you are as a couple, and this takes careful facilitation on many levels. I’m well aware that people get nervous in front of a camera so I do my best to work instinctively, shoot very fast, and facilitate a circumstance that is going to feel most authentic to you. If it’s authentic then we aren’t faking anything and the pictures will be better because of it.”
As a visual artist Glen has the rare ability to find breathtaking images in moments and subjects that are entirely unposed and uncontrived. Founded on a rapid eye for absorbing spontaneous events and a love for intricate light and shadow, he has a track record for creating simple, timeless, iconic photographs. He believes that beauty is found in things imperfect - sometimes blurred, sometimes grainy, not often straight - but always emotive, always real, and always oozing with atmosphere.
His calm confidence and over 10 years experience shooting weddings is a bride & groom’s best friend on a day that is often far from tranquil. “Weddings are the perfect puzzle of elements - people looking their absolute best, immaculate details, heartfelt moments. Steeped in tradition each wedding comes with a similar set of rules and structure, but crucially every wedding also comes with a major wild card - YOU. You’re the ones getting married, and you’re the ones who make your day perfectly unique. To tell your story in the most intimate, beautiful way I have to keep on my toes. I am present. I listen. I anticipate what’s coming next. There’s no off-switch. As the photographer in the room I have to be completely aware of everything at all times, senses alive, ready for anything. I think it’s this joy of being in the moment and the purity of telling other people’s stories, not imposing my own ideas, that has kept me intrigued all these years.”
