Romance in Portugal
There’s something incredibly magical about Portugal. The light is romantic and the coastline offers endless opportunity for photography. While on a trip to visit their wedding venue in Lake Como, Italy, Kristen and Zack decided to take a few free days to visit Portugal and have their engagement photos taken. Tivoli Palácio de Seteais (a palace built for Dutch royalty turned luxury hotel) in Sintra was the perfect location for our shoot. With a day and a half to spare, we utilized the beautiful interiors and gardens of the hotel as well as the city and coastline of Sintra. To play up the setting, Kristen did a series of wardrobe changes, from an emerald green gown to a crisp white bikini poolside and a more casual summer frock for the coast. The result: a set of unforgettable engagement photographs.
After a moonlit dinner in the fishing village of Cascais the night before, Kristen and Zack woke early to start hair and makeup for our shoot. Paris-based makeup artist, Ava Belle, flew in to make the couple look incredible throughout our shoot days. The morning light in Sintra is perfect, so we began with a 7:00 AM stroll through the gardens and vistas overlooking the town of Sintra. Following a fresh seafood lunch al fresco, the couple changed into swimwear for some more relaxed shots down by the pool.
For our second day, we wanted to capitalize on the magnificent 18th century architecture and rare period furniture at the Tivoli Palácio de Seteais for striking formal shots of the couple.
Never one to neglect a perfect sunset photo, we scouted the perfect location overlooking the waves of the Atlantic.
